Difference When Logged In To Friends Connect On A Site

Depending on if you are logged in you will see differences

1. Not Logged In

You will see members of the site , now lets see what extras you get when logged in

2. Logged In

The difference is you can now see your friends , now currently this will not be a big deal but in a few years this could provide the future of Social networking.

The other difference is if you are not logged in and the Webmaster chooses only members to post comments you will need to log in for comments , I do not have the comment widget on this blog because will use standard Blogger Commenting.

Requirements For Google Friends Connect

Unlike Followers on Blogspot Blogs,

Google Friends Connect requires you to have your own Web Site and you will also need FTP access to allow you to upload the two files replay and canvas to the root of your domain.

Once you have gone through the setup and made it work on your main site you can then use

Sites Settings  >> Advanced Tab >>> 2 Other Options
to add a blog to
Alternate addresses:  http://gfcresource.blogspot.com/

This is where I added the blog you are viewing which has the Friends Connect Widget instead of the Followers Widget you would normally find on a blog

What Is Google Friends Connect ( GFC )

1.  Allows users of GMAIL, Yahoo mail, AIM users and Open ID users to join ( become members )  of GFC enabled sites

2.  Allows those members to post comments on GFC Comment enabled pages, sections or sitewide depending on what the site administrator has implemented and enabled

3.  Allows Members to create groups of friends

4. With the Social bar enabled to see what other site visitors are commenting on and other members.

Little History Of How It has Evolved To This Point.

Google Friends Connect has evolved from the Blogger Followers Widget which allowed bloggers to become followers of a blog , and to see posts from blogs they have chosen to follow.
